Disney remaking one of its most beloved classics, The Lion King, in live action, and it is using Virtual Reality to help to do so. The live action remake of the Lion king expected to hit the theaters, not before 2019, but Disney got the suspense that originated early with a preview of what fans can expect from the Jon Favreau who directed the project.

A peek of the film’s “Circle in life” opening sequence debuted to a room of thousands during the D23 Expo in Anaheim, in California on Saturday.

The Hollywood Reporter recently published a quote from the 2019 movie from VFX supervisor, Rob Legato.

“We are going to use a lot of virtual-reality tools so it feels akin to what you are looking at if you were on a real set,” Legato said during a keynote talk at the NAB Show back in April. “You can walk around the set like a cameraman. [Wearing VR headsets,] the actors can now walk into a scene and see the other actors and trees … and because you are in 3D, you get a real sense [of the environment].”

It’s not too astounding to master the crowd using Virtual Reality considering the reboot is being directed by Jon Favreau. Last year he associated with Wevr to launch a preview of new Virtual Reality series, Gnomes, and Goblins.

Obviously, the Lion King will be using a lot of CGI and lot of green screen, but with the help of Virtual Reality, the crowd can get closer to the experience before it is been properly assembled. The movie will cast Donald Glover as Simba.

Disney also announces about its live-action remake of animated classic Dumbo, which has been scheduled for March 29, 2019, release date. The studio rolled out a model of Dumbo’s appearance, that is the first look at the character with his big ears, blue eyes, and sweet, emotive expressions respectively.
